Your Mounjaro® dosing schedule.
Mounjaro® is tirzepatide, a once-weekly injection that activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, approved for type 2 diabetes. The label starts at 2.5 mg and steps up every four weeks toward 15 mg, based on tolerance and results; each increase can change appetite, energy, and side effects.
Label titration, step by step
From the Mounjaro® prescribing label- Step 12.5 mgWeeks 1–4
- Step 25 mgWeeks 5–8
- Step 37.5 mgWeeks 9–12
- Step 410 mgWeeks 13–16
- Step 512.5 mgWeeks 17–20
- Step 615 mgWeek 21+
Your prescriber sets your dose and decides when it changes; this is the label’s schedule, not a recommendation. Dose AI logs the dose you actually took each week, so a rough Tuesday can be read against the step you were on.
- Nausea, fatigue, and GI side effects commonly improve within 4 to 8 weeks.
- Symptoms often flare again briefly after each dose increase.
- Dehydration makes nausea and constipation worse, so water is logged next to the dose.
Around week 12, the scale goes quiet.
Two flat weeks after real progress is when people start to doubt the medication. Plateau Mode notices the stall, puts your own curve on a “You are here” chart against the SURMOUNT-1 average for tirzepatide, and writes a cited note for your prescriber.
SURMOUNT-1: 20.9% average body-weight change at 72 weeks. Jastreboff et al., NEJM 2022 (15 mg arm). A trial average, not a promise; individual results vary widely.

Shot Mode walks you through your Mounjaro® injection: breathe with Blu, prep step by step, a ten-second hold count, then confetti and the dose logged for you, site included. Streaks keep the weekly rhythm.

Questions people ask about Mounjaro®.
Straight answers about Dose AI and about living on Mounjaro®. Nothing here is medical advice; your prescriber sets your dose.
How often should I inject Mounjaro®?
Mounjaro® is injected once weekly, on the same day each week. Dose AI helps you track your injection schedule, rotate injection sites properly, and never miss a dose with smart reminders.
What makes Mounjaro® different?
Mounjaro® contains tirzepatide, which activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors (dual-hormone), while Ozempic® and Wegovy® contain semaglutide (GLP-1 only). Studies show superior weight loss results.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
Clinical trials show people lose an average of 15-21% of their body weight with Mounjaro®, often with superior results compared to single-hormone medications. Dose AI tracks your personal progress patterns.
How does dose escalation work?
Mounjaro® starts at 2.5mg and increases gradually (5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg, up to 15mg) based on tolerance and results. Dose AI helps you track how each dose level affects you.
How long do side effects last?
Nausea, fatigue, and GI side effects typically improve within 4-8 weeks as your body adjusts to tirzepatide. Dose AI's side effect tracker helps you identify patterns and discover what minimizes symptoms.
Can you help with weight loss plateaus?
Absolutely. Plateaus can happen even with Mounjaro®'s powerful action. Dose AI analyzes your food intake, hydration, injection patterns, and side effects to identify what's holding you back.
What foods should I avoid?
Limit high-fat, greasy foods, spicy foods, and large portions as they can worsen nausea. Focus on protein-rich, easily digestible foods. Dose AI's food scanner helps identify Mounjaro®-friendly options.
Can I drink alcohol on Mounjaro®?
Alcohol can worsen Mounjaro® side effects like nausea and may affect blood sugar levels. Most doctors recommend limiting alcohol consumption. Dose AI helps you track how alcohol affects your symptoms.
